Debra Couturier-Fagan PhD ABSNP MSEd
Mission
Dr. Couturier-Fagan’s mission has always been to provide trusted information and support to children and their families. She strongly believes that knowledge allows parents to make good decisions about their child’s education and mental health and to advocate for their needs.
Education
Dr. Couturier-Fagan received her PhD in Developmental Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University. She has her MA from The City College of the City University of New York and MS Ed from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. At Bank Street College of Education, she completed training as an elementary education teacher. Dr. Couturier-Fagan received her bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of New Hampshire.
Her education and training has continued. In 2012 she completed an intensive, year-long post-doctoral training in School Neuropsychology and is a Diplomate to the American Board of School Neuropsychology, in 2017 she received certification for Memory Intervention, and in 2021 and 2024 completed advanced training for the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS 2).
Licensure and Experience
Dr. Couturier-Fagan is licensed as a psychologist in New Jersey and New York. She has worked in a variety of hospital and clinic settings including Columbia Presbyterian (Babies Hospital) Hospital, University Hospital, Newark, at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, South Bronx with a pediatric HIV population, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with premature infants, and as director of Early Intervention, and at the Krieker Center for Child Development at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ completing psychoeducational evaluations.
In 2000, Dr. Couturier-Fagan opened a private practice, DC Fagan Psychological Services, LLC, in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. This practice has provided thousands of families with comprehensive assessments over the past 25 years. Referrals to the practice come from families and medical professionals, as well as from multiple New Jersey and New York school districts looking for comprehensive independent evaluations for their students.
In addition, Dr. Couturier-Fagan has provided clinical supervision of PhD/PsyD students preparing for licensure and taught as an adjunct professor of psychology at Ramapo College of New Jersey for 17 years.
